In 2024, an estiamted 5.3 animals entered a shelter in the US alone. Many animals sit in small kennels or runs while awaiting for their perfect home. Fostering is a crucial aspect of animal rescue. It allows more space to be freed up in the shelter as well as provides animals a safe environment to recover and learn what love is
Stephanie Magram first started fostering in the island of St. Kitts. With no physical shelter on the island, the homeless and unwanted pets of St. Kitts heavily relied on fosters, which were often veterinary students. Stephanie adopted her "heart" dog Chesney her first semester of vet school from a foster, and that inspired her to start on her own foster journey on the island. She did not expect this journey to continue well after she graduated, but she is so happy it has.
One of Stephanie Magram's most memorable fosters was a sweet pitbull named Dior. She had come into her vet clinic with a fractured pelvis. She was treated and the owners then took her home. Stephanie was scrolling through Facebook one day and saw a picture of her stating that she was found abandoned and taken to the local shelter. Stephanie went to visit her the next day and took her home to foster. She is now living an amazing life with her FurEver family and young boy to play with.

Rev was brought into my vet clinic as a stray. He was found trapped in someone's car engine after the car was turned on. Rev suffered an eye injury and injury to his ear which required surgery. Rev is now living his best life in Florida and has a mom who absolutely adores him!
Eddie was found as a stray who likely was hit by a car. He had severe pneumonia when rescued from the shelter and had a broke hip. He recovered well from his pneumonia and had surgery on his hip. After 11 months as my foster, he finally found his FurEver Home and is loved more than words!
Frappe was found abandoned in a cardboard box at a park with his brothers and sisters. He was the absolute cutest and pudgiest puppy. He has now matured into a beautiful (and large) boy and his mama and fur-siblings love having him be a part of their family
Seaquin "Quinny" was surrendered when she needed an emergency c-section to give birth to her two puppies. During initial labor, one of her babies sustained injury to his paws. With daily bandage changes and care, his paws healed well and he gets around just fine without any toes! One of the veterinarians adopted her and her babies found perfect homes too!
Tootsie was abandoned at my vet clinic when she was brought in emaciated and unresponsive. With hope, intensive vet care and love, she made a full recovery. She is now thriving with her FurEver mom and is receiving so much love. She will never be abandoned again.
Penny was brought into my clinic for euthanasia after her owner passed away. None of her owner's family would keep her. She was older and had kidney disease, but was still full of life (and sass!). She was surrendered to me and I fostered her until she was adopted by an amazing dad in Naples. She lived another year being absolutely loved and adored. She eventually succumbed to her kidney disease but she had so much love during that last year of her life.
